Canada was ranked by U.S. News and World’s Report’s 2021 Ranking as being the best country in the world to live in.Throughout the pandemic, Halifax has proven itself to the rest of the country by continuing to perform well despite the challenges of the we have faced. Many people opted to move from larger city centres to Nova Scotia, both in Halifax and many other times. While Halifax is not as large or traditionally as well-known as larger cities, such as Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver or Ottawa, Halifax has always been a safe and welcoming city that has much to offer. Haligonians have always know the value and appeal of this city, and although prices have risen dramatically in our region, we still offer affordable housing, a strong sense of community and amenities.Halifax Regional Municipality is the capital of the province of Nova Scotia, Canada. The Regional Municipality had a population of 390,096 in 2011 Canadian Census and the urban area had a population of 297,943. Halifax is the largest population centre in Atlantic Canada and largest in Canada east of Quebec City. Halifax is a major economic centre in eastern Canada with a large concentration of government services and private sector companies. Major employers and economic generators include the Department of National Defence, various levels of government, and the Port of Halifax.
